Photographer's Note

Volcanic Pumice rock is very light weight due to the porous composition. However it is not this light. As the Tioga Pass Road ends at the junction of California Highway 395 there is a Mono Lake sign with a large volcanic rock suspended from it by steel chain. I cropped out the sign and came up with this fantasy.

In the background is Mono Lake, another victim of the City of Los Angeles's water takeover. It was being drained until a Superior Court judge ruled water had to be flowing sufficiently from snowmelt into the Lake to permit a gradual rise in water level.
