Here is a view to the Getty Tram. The tram is a computer-operated systemn from the station at the street level parking facility to the top of the hill.

The tram is a "horizontal elevator" system designed by Otis Transit Systems and the first of its kind on the west coast of the U.S. It is electric, emission free, and cable driven device. There are two automated trams in the system, one up and one down operated in pair. Each can take about 90 passengers. The tram travels along an elevated guideway floating on a 1.5 millimeter cushion of air generated by high powered electric fans. This feature enables the tram cars to consume less energy than if they rode on wheels.

The highway you can see under the guideway bridge is San Diego Freeway, or the infamous congestive 405 freeway. The building in the smog in distance is the high rise buildings in Century City, where it is a prestigious business community in Los Angeles.
