Photographer's Note

In my previous upload I have showed a view of the Mono Lake. Quite a popular destination nowadays. When you exit the Yosemite National Park via Tioga Road to the east, you drive into road 395. This is exactly where you find Mono Lake. If you drive 395 south you will arrive at Death Valley. On the way there, short drive off the 395, I recommend another interesting and less popular destination: Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. You may have heard that California is quite blessed with trees. It has the biggest trees in the world, sequoias, the tallest trees in the world, redwoods, and also the oldest trees in the world, Great Basin bristlecone pines (Pinus longaeva). One of the trees in the grove was confirmed to be 4,851 years old. It is considered to be the world's oldest known and confirmed living organism. It is not marked for its protection from humans.

I have actually better photos of the pines themselves but this is the only one which showed two of the pines in the context of Sierra Nevada in the distance.
