Photographer's Note

Cypress can live for hundred of years, has "knees" that protrude above the soil, and loses its leaves in the winter, hence the "bald" cypress name. However, as this is Florida, spring has sprung, and the cypress are beginning to bloom anew! One of my favourite things about spring in Florida is the blooming of the cypress. The first foliage has this beautiful light green colour. It is so lovely and soft, and a great way to start the season.

For those who may be wondering, the white stuff you see on the ground is not snow. Again, this is Florida, and that is sand ; )

I took this picture at Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area, in northwest Osceola County. I cropped the shot and clarified, saturated and sharpened it slightly. The trees (mostly oaks) in the background really helped to bring out the colour of this beautiful young tree, as they are still in their dull winter foliage.
