Photographer's Note

This shot is another I took at the Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area. For this shot I carefully made my way through some wild grass to get as close to the river as I could. I did this to get a shot of the gator on the opposite shore. She had to be nearly 10 feet long. On this side of the river I spotted a couple of her young, and so I was especially cautious as females aggressively defend their young for more than a year.

I know this shot is wild looking, but in all honesty, when you get of the beaten path here in Central Florida and into the "wilds," this is exactly what it's like.

I cropped this shot and resized it. I also worked on the saturation, clarity, and sharpness.
