Photographer's Note

Sorry! (I forgot to write the note.)

Well, I was with a few friends, heading to the Galleria, but we had to stop at the University of Houston first... (Incase you were pondering why I was still on 45 at this point). I was sitting in the back seat, and it was the total gridlock hour. So, I got out of the car -yes, on the freeway- and took this photo. I took alot more, but this one seems to be everyone's favorite of the bunch.

Fun Facts:
This is Hertiage Plaza, one of my favorite skyscrapers of all time. It was completed in 1987, the last major additions to the skyline in the 80's after all the oil busts. It has 53 Floors, and stands 762ft. high (232.3m). It's stepped pyramid cap was inspired by architect Mohammed Nasr's vacation in the Yucatán. Although it has not been fully lit since the 90's, all the features of the top are outlined in Neon, said to resemble a bald eagle, with its wings wrapping around the side.

"During 1986's historic Rendez-vous Houston concert, the building supported a 20+ story screen constructed of thousands of pieces of canopy, and a completed section of the 18th floor served as a rehersal area for musician Jean-Michel Jarre and his band during bad weather." -http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=117639

Its always the focal point in the Downtown skyline for me (when viewed from the west side). 5th Tallest Building in Houston, 4th tallest Downtown.
