Photographer's Note

To appreciate this eroded scene fully, you need to know that the temperature was in the low 40 degree celcius range - a very hot January day - the sandy ground is littered with stones and there is no shelter! It is a long walk frpm the road to what is a high cliff edge at Point Avoid in the Coffin Bay national park. For your troubles, you get a panoramic view of a wild, isolated and unforgiving coast. Little natural fresh water to be found except some sporadic springs, if you know where to look... The waves here have travelled all the way from Antartica so the water is cold and blue - unlike the land it reaches. Lots of native wild life here though, as well as the special scenery to experience.
