Photographer's Note
Moonta, on Yorke Peninsula, was a copper mining centre in the early days of South Australia. Many miners came out from Cornwall in England and as a result the mining buildings, such as these, are Cornish in style.
To this day Cornish pasties are very popular in the area.
We visited Moonta on a wet day and landed up with plenty of sticky clay on both the car and our shoes.
Better detail in the large view.

A very nice reportage photo, interesting place, I guess working conditions in old times in this mine were not the best, very well captured

Bonjour, Ian
Reminds me of the old Chillagoe copper mine in far north Queensland which also had a lot of old clay weights and measures lying around on the ground. Good sharpness and an excellent post from a very remote part of the country. Tfs!

Hi Ian,
Quite strange place. Those buildings are obviously old and it is surprising to see such large scale open mine with long history. I guess dry climate means that this place has not grown over despite a few bushes in the foreground.
