Photographer's Note
Penong is the last town in South Australia as you head west towards Western Australia. It is near the start of the famous Nullabor Plain (nullabor mean treeless). This shop tries to get everyone in with its warning sign last shop for 1,000km.
Best in the large view.

Hello Ian,
Yes, it is better with the new tab!
It's a fine clear shot, with all the alerts you could wish for!
I have seen many signs like 'Last Petrol Station Before Motorway' but nothing quite as final as this!
Presumably they have lots and lots of stock!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Bonjour, cher Ian,
Les panneaux sont importants et permettent de prendre ses précautions pour traverser la route désertique ŕ venir !
La mise en image donne bien le ton des lieux.
J'aime beaucoup.
Amitiés.

Hello Ian,
These warning signs are a great way to attract many customers, I guess, who come and get some last-minute shoppings before they enter the 1000km long shopless (and treeless) road. A good composition, well balanced between the signs at left and the shop itself, which was nicely shaded from the warm sunlight.

Hello Ian,
I can this not propose , 1000 km without shop.
In Belgium always less than 1 km to the next shop.
We get much details to see.
Also sharpness and clarity are wonderful to look at.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John

In Australia there are so long distances that every driver who wants to go a long way must have adequate food and water supplies, and this is a very important information, well observed and captured

Hello Ian,
You'd be surprised how many people have no idea just how big Australia is. Almost 3 million square miles, the same size as the contiguous 'lower 48' states of the USA. I've seen some questions on travel forums such as is there a bridge from Sydney to New Zealand? & can we do a daytrip to Uluru from Sydney? Paris to Vienna, Copenhagen, Madrid and Inverness in Scotland are all roughly just over the 1,000 km distance depicted in the dire warning here. Tfs!

Hi Ian,
That certainly is a sign that makes people stop. Looks like a cosy place of a small community. Shadow under that tree is very welcome.
