Soren Larsen

This is the stern of the Soren Larsen, one of the most magnificently restored and adapted Tallships still sailing in worldwide survey and is one of the most illustrious wooden vessels of her type in the world.

Check out this photo in TrekEarth and this is a letter sent to the guy who posted it:

Hallo Aaron,

my name is Rudolfo, I'm from Germany and I saw this photo from you. I love it!! You wrote, you didn't get the name of the ship. I sailed many times on this tallship around the South Pacific. The ship's name is "Soren Larsen", built in Denmark in the late 40's, last century, as a cargo vessel.

Today, Master and owner is Capt. Anthony Davies, a british gentleman, living near Auckland with his wife Fleur. He sails with the (he calls her lovingly) "Old Lady" through the whole South Pacific Ocean and sometimes around the world (even around Cape Hoorn!!). Everybody, who has a passion for sailing on old ships, can sail with her as a voyage crew member, and this was the most phantastic experience for me I have ever made!!

This "Old Lady" is a deep and never-ending love of mine...She has a wunderful homepage, if you want, have a look: www.sorenlarsen.co.nz

Many greetings from Germany

Since 2002 the Ship works from her home base in Auckland, New Zealand during the southern hemisphere summer and explores the tropical waters of the South Pacific from March to November.
