Photographer's Note

I do not know what to post :(. What will be interesting? I have changed my mind several times today. Finally, this red bridge won. I do not know where it was. Somewhere on the way from National Park to Auckland. I like bridges, maybe you will like it too.

TE slowly but steadily fades away. In January there were 81 pages, then 74, 74, 70, 71 and in June only 64 pages. It means around 38 pictures in the day.

Kari wrote that it is Makatote Viaduct. I made my picture of course from the bus window. In fact, I was there twice. The first time, I just saw it, later I managed to take this photo.

The Makatote Viaduct (Bridge 179) takes the North Island Main Trunk railway (NIMT) across the Makatote River. It is 335.7 km from Wellington, at the foot of Ruapehu, in northern Manawatu-Wanganui (central North Island), between National Park and Ohakune.

It was built between 1905 and 1908.
When built it was tallest, and is now the third tallest, viaduct in New Zealand, the higher ones being the 1981 North Rangitikei 81 metres, further south on the NIMT, and 1937 Mohaka viaduct 95 metres , on the Gisborne line.

Thank you, Kari. ,
