Photographer's Note

The Architectural Complex of the Sanctuary of Caraça comprises a church, the building of an old college (now a museum and library) and a hotel. The Nossa Senhora Mãe dos Homens Church, built between 1876 and 1883, summit of the mining period in Minas Gerais, was the first in neo-Gothic style in Brazil. Its 48 meter high tower is a point of reference during the hikes along the various trails in the RPPN (Portuguese initials for Private Natural Heritage Reserve) area in which the complex is located.
