Photographer's Note

Hello my friends!

When I subscribe to Trekearth, in november 2005, I had no idea about how advantageous it could be for me.
Since that day, TE becomes a nice way to some daily pleasant time, "visiting" wonderful places, knowing interesting people, making good friends, learning with them and getting hungry for more and more photos, and more and more travels.
During this time, I´ve been learning a lot here, increasing my amateur photographer's skills to levels that I couldn´t imagine to reach.

Some fellows did not accept the post process as a value work and I respect their minds about it. But, for me, post process is just a nice tool that "all" professionals have been using since the very beggining of photography's history.

I was 15 years old when I learned how to develop b&w photos and I had my onw little lab at home with 16. (curiously, the word says "develop"!). Post process was there... used in each development. At least the use of more or less intensity of lights and the time of immersion in the fluids was basic and trivial for everybody. So, I learned why my own develop was better comparing to machine developments.

Even when we send any colour negative to any laboratory to develop some copies, we must know that the machine has its settings. So, we choose the best laboratory to develop our photos, just because its better process! I choosed a profesional laboratory a long time ago and I saw lots of professionals asking to work as their preferred settings and special instructions when I didn´t know anything about pp.

Kodak has better hot colours! Fuji has better cold colours! Chromes has better sharpness, high definition contrast! Well, there are 1000 tricks to make a nice photo! Of course that we can´t forget that the cameras, and specially the photographers, are the key to any nice picture. But pp work is the final touch! Sometimes we need more, sometimes we need less, sometimes we don´t need it! But its a nice tool used since the first photo laboratory.

Today we have our own labs at home. It is not a professional privilege anymore! Of course that we can´t change the world's images! But, I believe that we can enhance our photos to present a better work.

Well, I find this picture in my archives to post to my 300th specially for three reasons: First, because it symbolize a little bit of the apprenticeship that I gain since my first post here. Furthermore, I am also an amateur fisherman and since I began this photo fever in my life, I have been using to take my camera with me when I go fishing, keeping my eyes alert and seriously thinking that, if I didn´t catch my fish, I always can capture a nice image. The third reason is just because I finally found a photo with three of something to celebrate the 300th.

I would like to say thank you for all my friends. You had been nice fellows and I've been learning a lot with your work and your criticism to my posts.

All the best to you all!

I took this photo at early morning when is commom to have fog there, because the sierra is too close, just in the end of the bay and in the back of the fog you are seeing here (W) At my back, the East and the ocean, where the sun was beggining to open the fog's curtain.*
