'Quebrada de Chuba - Icecream in the desert'

Perhaps you will remember that not so long ago I have posted a picture of bizarre rock formations of which I had not found any information. After more searching the internet, I did find something: the name.
It is called the Quebrada de Chuba and what you see is hard volcanic ash that got its strange shapes by erosion.
So I relocated my other picture and upload here 3 more photographs of this fascinating place.

On the occasion of another picture of a snowy volcano peak Chris (ChrisJ) commented that the mountain looked like ice cream. That was exactly my idea with my main picture of today and with the altered image # 2 in the workshop.

Once again I did not know what photo I would put as the main picture. According to comments I often seem to make the wrong choice :)

The icecream here is the dormant volcano, the Parinacota, quite a distance away. But with its altitude of 6.348 meters it is visible from far away.
