Bovine Siesta III Photo

Photographers Note

Third in my series on the Serge Island/Belvedere dairy herd in the shade of the hedgerow trees (see June 23, 2009 post and note). By the time I reached this group there seemed to be mild interest in being photographed.

In posting yet another cow photo, I feel the need to explain that much as I have always loved cows -- my grandfather was a dairy farmer, I am profoundly concerned about the need for the human race to wean itself away from them. A vegetarian, and better still a vegan, way of life is better for our health and productivity and that of the planet. (See also Kielia "Livestock's Long Shadow," July 6, 2009.)

Fine caoture of the cows in the shadows, maybe because the hot weather....

Hi Mary,

I like this image of the cows seemingly keeping a low profile among the lush vegetation. Although I am not a vegetarian, I have cut back drastically on eating meat. But I can tell you that Leonardo, was a vegetarian, as was Einstein two individuals whose works have figured prominently in my endeavors (I am a physicist/artist). The frame is beautiful.

Bonjour Mary,
dans ma galerie, j'ai une photo qui ressemble beaucoup ŕ celle-ci. En fait j'adore les animaux, tous les animaux, mais je ne suis pas équipé pour faire de la bonne photo animaličre, juste quelques scčnes sympathiques et cocasses comme celle-ci.

Wow -- cool! I had likes this photo without even noticing a frame around it. That may be bad, since you obviously chose carefully, but it's also good in that it does support the shot without taking it over. Thanks, Judy

I like this framing of greenery whose exposure is well controlled. These curious cows are rather funny. An good image.
