Photographer’s Note
Second in the series on Jamaica's fragile southeast coast. On this day the weather was partly overcast and somewhat windy but by no means stormy. Nevertheless, the photo shows the strength of the waves -- breaking onto the main road near the bus -- and at least a suggestion of the state of the road.
Because I haven't yet figured out how to make a hyperlink to a previous post (please help!), I am repeating the underlying message of these related images(2009-06-26): "... this coast retains the open views and natural character that used to be found in most parts of Jamaica. The brown/grey sandy and stony beaches, the difficult road access and the particular vulnerability of this corner of the island to storms and hurricanes have all restricted conventional tourist development. Hopefully, this has bought time for the area to benefit from the more sustainable value of alternative forms of tourism."

Hello Mary.
Nice portrait of a furious sea.
The foreground is well taken, it's a pity the bus was so much decentered.
Best regards.

Une belle photo qui amčne de la fraicheur, Mary. On y retrouve la force des flots. Un moment bien choisi pour photographier ce rivage sous d'excellentes lumičres.

Hello Mary,
You have so many great photos from the coast of Saint Thomas. This one caught my eye as is shows the power of a big sea although it was not really stormy. A nice composition, beautiful natural colours and a pleasant atmosphere. Well, the bus could have been cropped out of course, but that is a minor detail.
Best regards,
Lasse
P.S. I sent you separate instructions on how to add a hyperlink :-)

Between your last four photos, dear Mary, this one is the most dramatic. The sky and the sea are married in colors, nice impressionist palette. The nice plant on the corner is so welcome for your composition. I like it and so glad to meet you here on the beach.

Hello Mary,
I like the action as the the sea is washing the shores of Jamaica!
Admirable different shades of green including the sea, the view is well framed with strong foreground interest to create depth...

Hello Mary,
yes, it looks windy! and I like the waves a lot! they create a very refreshing atmosphere and make the scene very dynamic. I also like the inclusion of a bus on the left... but maybe the crop on the left is too tight :)
In any case, I like the sense of depth created in the photo, and this slightly hazy background vs. clear FG adds charm to the view, too!
warm greetings from Moscow,
Elena

Hi Mary,
another very beautiful impression with an amazing atmosphere. Your POV works excellently, giving the viewer the feeling of being part of the scene, one can even smell the air and feel the foam. A great capture (despite of the bus you have cut off)! TFS!
Warm regards
Harriet
