Photographers Note

The thriving little fishing town of Pothia is a typically Greek settlement with its array of both ancient and modern buildings in many striking colours and beautiful architecture. It is the home to around 15,000 inhabitants and therefore one of the largest towns in the Aegean.

Pothias sheltered harbour is surrounded on three sides by the most amazing art-deco houses and hotels, splendidly painted in the warm colours of orange, yellow and pink.

The harbour area is a cluster of stalls selling sponges, loofahs and shells while children swim in the crystal clear waters and the colourful fishing boats bob up and down, making a wonderful backdrop...

...taken in Pothia, Kalymnos, where i had been for a day trip from Kos...

Excellent shot!

Just enough motion in feet and hands to give it some action while the rest of the boy is sharp. The skin tone in contrast with the water colours combined with the houses and the blue sky gives this image a very lively feeling.

Ben böyle bir fotoğraf daha hatırlıyorum,fakat nereden?
Gökyüzünün homojenliği,yapılar,ve çocuğun aksiyonlu görünümü,suyun dinginliği "gel sen de koş ve atla" diyor adeta.Çocuk zıplamış fakat,sizin bacaklarınızın gölgesi kalmış sanırım.Ve bundan zayıfladığınız sonucu da çıkarılabilir.

That is beautiful, Korkut. An out of dream scene and great photography.
You are right - looking at the photo one feels like flying oneself into space. And not into water but over it's surface - higher and higher.

Hello Korkut! This looks so inviting, just jump in without being cold when you come out. I think of Switzerland and swimming when most of the time you do not want to come out anymore because a cold wind blows etc. etc. Cute picture loaded with vacation. I am always a little scared to watch these crazy little guys, hopeing that the water was deep enough for them, yeah I know it's a little beyond, we all got older somehow ... Happy week ... Barbara.

The timing is impeccable, and your positioning perfect. I don't think the diver overlaps anything. The water is crystal clear anad the wonderful houses make a superb backdrop.
Just wait until this is your little fellow and your heart is in your mouth for his safety!

I enjoy this picture very much!There is the wonderful white and blue colors of a greek village,in front of a clear crystal water!And you have added some dynamism and some cheerfullness with the magnificent dive of this young boy!Good to have included the small triangle of wall from where he is diving,that gives an extra dimension!

Müthiş bir zamanlama, pekala Türkiye de olabilecek nefis bir Ege manzarası... Suyun berraklığı, gökyüzünün mavisi, arkadaki ev manzaralarıyla (uydu anteni göremedim bu sefer) çok güzel olmuş Korkut...

Never been to Kalymnos, but your photo really makes me wanna go there immediately!!! Quite different from your style, but always impressive, kibrisli mou, fantastic "blending" of architecture and joyful daily life scene, that young "Icarus" is learning to fly, and I hope that someday he 'll make it! as far as i'm concerned, this is the essence of care-free childhood summer, your timing was perfect. two things i'd change - clone away the shadows in the foreground, and adjust the colour of the sky to make it less saturated and less attention-grabbing. minor point though, and a matter of personal preference :)

Eger bu kare icin cocuk benim icin birkac kere atlamadi..bu bir kerede oldu dersen dusup bayilacagim. Acin harika. Cocugun ellerinin deniz sinirlarinin icinde kalmasi, islak guneste parlayan vucudu ve tabii netlik...hepsi harika.

Perhaps he has a lot of ancestors who fished sponges since your photo is taken in Kalimnos! It is perhaps the reason why he learned how to do so beautiful dives!
