Sometimes your eyes will see something your camera can't catch.

Sometimes your eyes will see the same thing differently than your camera; when I was shooting this kid, I have found him very natural, somehow zen, almost spiritual in his attitude and his gaze.

After I quit the scene, I look at my camera screen to make sure everything was sharp, and I thought to myself: "The little saint of Kolkata", probably like many of you, looking at your photos with titles springing to mind.

Only once home did I realized that there was an actual aura around his head on the wall, confirming my perception in form of pixels...

Hello André,
Yes it's true sometimes I would have taken a shot but only when I look at it later I notice some small interesting detail which I never noticed whilst taking the shot. He does have a halo effect around his head suiting his serene demeanour, and his lotus position way of sitting also adds to the saint effect.
What I really like as well is the kind of subdued colouring and the texture combination of the metal door and the painted peeling wall. I love all the details of the tools of his trade stacked so neatly next to him. A lovely portrait!

Hello André,

Quel âge a ce petit garçon ? 6 ans, 7 ans !
Je dois dire que j'imagine mal mon fils dans quelques années devoir travailler dans la rue pour pouvoir faire vivre sa famille.
Une photographie de la vie quotidienne lŕ-bas, mais qui frappe par son coté tragique.
J'espčre que cet enfant a au moins le temps de se rendre ŕ l'école pour pouvoir faire autre chose de sa vie.
En voyant son équipement, je pense, en plus, que sa recette journaličre doit ętre donnée ŕ une personne qui lui reverse ce que bon lui semble...

Dans tout les cas, cette image me parle...

Great photo, and yes there is something there that a photo can never quite capture.

Je ne sais pas si l'aura autour de sa tęte en fait un saint....un petit "martyre" peut-ętre. Cela me fait toujours un peu mal de voir ces enfants obligés de travailler si jeunes pour vivre (survivre plutôt)mais, ŕ voir son regard pétillant d'intelligence, on sait qu'il s'en sortira dans la vie. Trčs beau portrait-scčne de vie.

His face couldn't be more blissful..yes the peeled paint behind his head creates an 'aura'...his sitting posture yogic, his work instruments beside him, what more can one expect. Beauty of a portrait from my home city, my friend!

Hi Andre,
Great intuition and a perfect title, there is a zen and peaceful expression on his face. A child that is wise beyon his age. I love the very subdue and rustic elements around him, a combination of hard and cold objects and this warm and fragile child. Photo quality is perfect as always and a very good composition, all seem to just fit and balanced well. Thanks.
