The San Remo (145 and 146 Central Park West) is a luxury, 27-floor, co-operative apartment building in New York City located between 74th and 75th streets, about 1/10 of a mile north of the Dakota building (which is located between 72nd and 73rd.) The San Remo is described by Glen Justice of the New York Times as "a dazzling two-tower building with captivating views of Central Park."[1] As a housing cooperative, its board has a "reputation for lenient admissions standards" compared to the conservative, old-money boards on the other side of the park.[2]

Past and present residents of the building include such famous personalities as Stephen Sondheim, Tiger Woods, Steven Spielberg, Donna Karan, Steve Jobs, Demi Moore, Glenn Close, Stanley Donen, Dustin Hoffman, U2 frontman Bono, Steve Martin, Charles Nolan, Bruce Willis, Eddie Cantor, Elaine May, Robert Stigwood, Marshall Brickman, Jackie Leo, Don Hewitt, Billy Squier and Texas natural gas heiress Adelaide de Menil but also some businessmen: Dodi Al Fayed, Andrew Tobias, Aaron Spelling, Jack Sherwall, Hedy Lamarr. Rita Hayworth spent her last years there. In 2007 same floor residents Bono and Billy Squier went to court over a fireplace
