Photographer's Note

Bhujodi is a small town just 8 km southeast of Bhuj in the state of Gujarat.

Bhujodi is a major textile center of Kachchh (Kutch), with the vast majority of the 1200 inhabitants involved in textile handicraft production. One can meet here, weavers, tie-dye artists and block printers, most of them belonging to the Vankar community.

This is the courtyard of a typical house in Bhujodi. I was attracted by the baked clay wall, where the designs made by fingers looked beautiful in the falling light of the evening. The long shadows of the trees behind me (inside the compound) seemed to point directly at the homemaker, who seemed intent with her threshing activities.

Loved the sandals in the FG...do you? :-))
