Photographer's Note
When I went to New York City to vote in the referendum, my wife and I made a weekend getaway out of it. My wife had not seen the 9/11 Memorial & Muesum and I lost my photos from my first visit to a disk crash. So, after I voted, we went there.
This photo was taken along the foundation of South Tower. What remains of the foundation is displayed, along with huges photos of the stages of construction of the World Trade Center, culminating in the photo of the completed structure. This shows that last photo, hanging above the remnants of the foundation. Looking at my photo, the viewer might get focused on photo of the World Trade Center, not noticing the current reality of its ruins around the photo. I thought this might be a metaphor for myself and the state of affairs in Turkey. I am so focused on the memory of the Turkey of my childhood, western looking and progressing, that I fail to see the ruins of the same Republic.

Hello Murat,
This is an original and touching photo. I didn't know that a place like this existed and was open to the public. It's a grim reminder of 9/11 and its impact on the whole world.
So you are still a Turkish citizen? Then last Sunday must have been a very sad day. Considering the way things have been going in Turkey the last few years, much more than 49% of the population will find themselves on the losers' side.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Murat,
An excellent composition that captures the spirit of this moving memorial. Perfectly exposed with superb colours and clarity. Your reference to the recent referendum in Turkey is very fitting.

Hello Murat,
as said before the world gone mad: 9/11 and turkey referendom last sunday are merely two milestones in what is going on already too long. Will the world ever learn? mayber and hopefully.
When I look at the Manhattan skyline contemporary photos, always feel the miss of the WTC twin-towers. The picture on the wall was probably too optimistc, but we have to be !!
Yielding for better times in Turkey, try to cheer up my friend.
Fine underground foundation's photo.

Hello Murat,
I am truly sorry that the referendum in Turkey didn't turn out the way you had hoped. Excellent photo from the 9/11 Museum. You included the foundations and the photo of the Twin Towers very well and I like the contrasting blue and warm tones.

Hello Murat,
it is photographs like this that bring back memories and saddens us about the realities of an unsettled world.
There is much for us to learn from one another.
Thank you for this moving yet very direct photograph.
Kind regards,
Bev 😊

Hi Murat
The dual nature of man. We can be either incredibly creative or incredibly destructive. Creative is obviously better. A sad analogy to recent events in Turkey. Erdogan is more arrogant and conceited than ever. They say pride comes before a fall. Let's hope so.

Hello Murat,
This trio of the beam, the photo on the wall, and the quote, make a strong and poignant photo. A view of the original towers still evokes strong feelings for me. There are many interesting views to be found around the new World Trade Center, and this one is excellent.
