Photographer's Note

My next several uploads of photos from the streets of Leh will all be in black & white. I wouldn't have remembered I had these negatives unless I had read the diary from my visit to Ladakah in 1985, where at one point I mentioned that I had loaded my camera with a roll of B&W film.

There is very little I can say about these photos. I have no specific memories of taking any of them, because I spent a lot of time just walking mainly along the main street of Leh snapping quick shots of interesting persons I saw. There is nothing in my diary about any of these photos.

So here is a typical "nothing special" photo, unless you agree with me that politeness and mutual respect between people is always special. Since this was more than 33 years ago, I have a suspicion that these elderly gentlemen will never find out they have been on the internet.

Here is a larger version.

In one WS you can see a mother and child, in the other a lot of saleswomen. Today's photos were all scanned from Ilford FP4 negatives and may all be of some interest to lovers of film grain.
