Photographers Note

I had not intended to post this photo today, but having heard this morning the alarming news from Roma I changed my plans, thinking it's about time to express sympathy and support to Poland and all Poles around the world, including numerous ones in France.

This photo has been taken on Krakow's "Rynek Glowny" (Main Market Square) and shows the Gothic "Kosciol Mariacki" (St Marys Church), with its twin spires, that really catches the eye. Within this church is the 15th-century Chapel of Our Lady of Czestochowa and Wit Stwoszs large stone crucifix and wooden polyptych, The Dormition of the Virgin of 1477-89, the largest Gothic altar in Europe.

As you may know, Karol Józef Wojtyła, Cardinal of Krakow, became pope of the Roman Catholic Church on October 16, 1978 under the name John Paul II.

Nice photo with a good note and good composition. Very nice sunny colours, but a bit too bluish maybe. I tried a workshop to show you what I mean.

Jean-Yves this is a very timely and poignant shot. I think it's remarkable that you even took this shot. It doesn't seem to be going very well right now for the Pope. As far s the workshop I think it was successful in improving the shot. Thanks for sharing this one with us Jean-Yves.

Quelle est la quantité de malles emplies de photographies, possčdes-tu ?
C'est prodigieux de pouvoir sortir au bon moment une photographie qui "colle" ŕ l'actualité.
Il va sans dire que j'aime beaucoup cette composition (église, architecture, ...).

for me - nothing special; typical and simple shot from main market in cracow; all you need is to take camera, stop and take o shot;
i don't understand those words of admiration!

i think you could adjust color, because this photo is all blue. the sharpness could be better and the composition is quite banal and not good - too much sky on the left and it was not a good decision to cut the nave of the church.
