Photographers Note
This is the view from the top of Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park in Washington. I will post a workshop of the view walking up the short trail to the top. Come to think of it this is my first non-panorama from this place. I have one more panorama in the works from Hurricane Ridge. I've said it before but this place feels much higher than it actually is at just around 6,000 feet. The colors were basically out-of-camera and the only post-processing was levels, contrast, and USM. Taken around 5pm.

Wonderful posting, Stephen. The contrasting colors and light and the layers of mountains in the contre-jour effect are fantastic. The sky is brilliant. Good framing as well. Great composition. Well done.

Good evening,
Beautiful shot, Stephen. I love the filtered light rays against the layered mountains. The golden field provides an excellent complement to the deep clear blue of the sky. The brilliant white cloudtop on the left really polishes the scene and balances out the color scheme nicely. Yes, it is a beautiful view, and it does look very high up there.

Great shot Stephen! I like the simple combination of the foreground with the mountains in the bakcground, with so many contrasts between the two. The light rays over the mountains look great too, and add a very special look to this. Excellent!

Stephen this is the kind of lighting in a photo I love to see. Excellent handling of lighting and wonderful capture of this field and the rays of light in the background over the mountians. I can see your ND filter really paid off with this one too. Excellent composition..and I am suprised to see in the workshop that the trail is paved? Up here in Canada good old dirt makes the best trails!! Thanks for posting!

Hi Mr. Steve, An impressive Steve style of grand view picture. I enjoy your classical 1/3 composition to this picture. Nice inclusion of the foreground field to show the depth of the photo. The layers of mountains in the view and the sunray in the view made this photo very attractive. Well done.

Stephen,
Wow ! Stunning light on this one. The exposure is perfect !
Deep blacks with details and bright whites that are not washed out ! The small patch of trees to the right complement the shot very well because that is where the only verticals are found. I really like it !

Bonjour Stephen,
Compliments.
Daniel.

Hi Stephen.
Beautiful contrast of colours, tremendeous sunlight at the back.
It doesn't have to be a panorama in order to get a nice shot from you.

Hi Stephen,
Lovely classic picture, a school example to the division horizontal, also the colours are very well, the gold foreground care for a warm feeling. You play very nice with sun and shadows too!
Have a nice weekend,

Beautiful shot Steve; you're showing me what I missed when I was up there in the fog. The different layers of mountains seem to make the view endless. The grad did a fantastic job on the sky. Are they sunbeams I see or just the light picking up the ridges?

Hi Steve,
A beautiful blue and gold compo with the rays of sun angling across the entrancing layers of mountains. Each layer is distinguished by a different shade of blue. Your outstanding light management and focus is shown in the detail of the grasses, the clouds and those angling rays.

Steve, very nice man... I like the rays of light or just the features giving the eye the notion to cross from right to left in the background.

Beautiful tonality and contrasts in this one, Steve. The afternoon light and the ambient setting with the clouds and shadows do blend into a vivid scenic total, and the different horizontal layers add into a harmonious ensemble. Good use of the grad filter, too. Compositionally speaking, you didn't do much more than put the lens to widest angle and point the camera at the scenery, but of course in this particular case it was more than enough to do :o) Thanks for adding the WS, too.

Hi Stephen - it's all about the contrast here, and what a marvelleous contrast it is, the clouds are impressive enough, but the combination of bright vegetation against the dark mountains is what grabs the eye.

Another great shot, Stephen.
I like the range of peaks covered in blue in the BG, the colour similar to one on the very top of the sky and its contrast to the golden of the field in front of us.
Feels good!

Hi Steve,
You know, blue and brown/dark yellow is my favorite combination, so I must love this shot, and I really love it. However the colours are not the only reason. Its composition is great too and the clouds are fantastic. It's an excellent landscape art.
Thanks,
Marek

Hi Steve,
A strong one in terms of colors and contrasts, I like here the subtle tones differences between the succeeding peaks and the rays of light diffusing between the clouds, how much is 6000 ft, about 2000 m ?
I wish you a nice week end,

Hi Stephen,
Wow! What a view! That's awesome! I really like those lovely sunrays, the fabulous clouds, and that wonderful layered effect of the mountains in the distance. It reminds me of one of the views I saw from the main range of the Australian Alps, with the mountains in all their different shades of blue. The golden grass in the foreground also looks lovely, complementing the mountains nicely. Are there a lot of hurricanes there? Well captured with good details and colours!

Hi Stephen,
You must have felt the pull and attraction from this scene that resulted in this very lovely shot. I was immediately drawn towards the mystic feel of the mountains due to the sun rays and the circular formation of the clouds makes it very lively. Congratulations!! Have an exciting weekend.

Superb shot Stephen;
Great detail, levels and composition. I like the rays of light shinging through the clouds into the valley. Appealing (yet realistic) colors, and a good amount of detail in the tall grasses.
Nice one Stephen,
