Photographer's Note

I just took my first trip to the Provence, and it was indeed, except for the heat, one of my favorite places on Earth! I stayed just outside the village center of the village of Lourmarin, and it was quite a wonderful ritual to walk to this Boulangerie. I'm not sure it's the only one in the village, but it has a sign that claims it is the only one that has been in continuous operation for over 100 years. While this makes it a young business by European standards, I can assure you that the breads are very good. I looked up "Boulangerie" on TE and didn't find a picture yet that features breads and a person at work at the same time, so I thought this would be something different. The bread with slits next to the person's head is called the "Fougasse," a wonderful, local specialty.
