Cannon Beach from above Photo

Photographers Note

View of Oregon's most famous beach, a popular weekend destination of Portland residents. This was taken during a heat wave in august in late afternoon. This type of weather is very rare at the coast, even when Portland is roasting, often the seas are rough, the skies foggy, and the sea bottom not visible. It may look swimmable in this photo, but bathing here is for the adventurous only, or those with a wetsuit. In the distance are the photogenic rock formations photographed by fellow members Ann75 and Cormac.

Hi Tan. Every time I see a picture from Cannon Beach I lament and wonder what could have been. It was raining and overcast when I was there. You have some eye-popping rich colors. Looking at this so makes me want to go back. It might need the slightest amount of rotation. Very nice one Tan.

Great lighting and exposure. And I like the depth very much with the shoreline linking the deepends of pc. Interesting to see some people down there - again acting as scale of the place! BTW how did u get up there? Is it a viewpoint location / you climbed up?

I'm amazed at the deep blue of the water you've captured. The curve of the beach and the long shadows of the rocks are wonderful. This is my favorite beach! You've shown it very well, excellent photo.

Dear Tan!
Its a beautiful natural symphony!I like many nice details of picture for example: little town far away, little people on the beach (set off the deep)and the fog. Composition and lights are excellent, again!

Hi Tan, I know Cannon Beach only through Lori's camera. She almost owns the place. Nice to see someone else taking a picture of this plave.
Very colorful and rich contrast. Good to see some people down there to get a perspective of the scenery.

Hello Tan!

You outbeat us all with this gorgeous shot, Tan! Haha. I love this shot and yes, you were so lucky to have such a clear view over the coast. The only time we saw a bit more of a clear view was in the evening just before sunset. Usually it's more foggy and the waves are wilder. I love the lush green colours to the side and the deep blue waters! The sharpness in this photo is amazing as well! Fantastic composition and beautiful colours! Excellent work, Tan!

Tan, cette composition est superbe. La courbe de la côte est trčs harmonieuse et les couleurs divines. J'aime particuličrement le premier plan pour sa netteté et ses couleurs. Tu as eu de la chance de tomber sur un bon jour.

Hi Tan - one of your 'trademark' images, with a high viewpoint & wonderul, saturated colours. The sweep of the shoreline is nice, leading the eye away to the distant (and often photgraphed) rocks.

I always taught that Canon beach looks much better than Nikon beach...

Another impressive photo of your signatures view; you certainly have big and muscular calves! Very cool shot of this beautiful littoral that described an almost perfect arch that creates a frame for the sea. Nice blend of green and blue shades, under perfect light. High level of details and sharpness.

Reading your note, I can understand why theres so little people... Better to walk around than to dive in, I guess.

Hi Tan,
A bird's eye view of this basin comprising the famous beach. This is an unusual POV which gives a rather macro sweep of the area. I like the natural hues and overall clarity. You are certainly right about the weather and it is also unusual to see the rather mild looking waves instead of angry surf. Well captured.
