Photographer’s Note
It's not often I show the interior of hotels I've stayed in, but I make an exception here. This hotel on Miyajima was not cheap (12,000 yen), but included all meals. Right after I took this, the maid arrived with the evening meal, & it was the best I had in my whole time in Japan.
I slept on traditional tatami mats, with doonas & quilts, which were stored in a cupboard.

I have no idea how much 12 000 yen is in us$ or in Euros, but it looks nice. I even don't know if it is comfortable to sit this way, but I would love to try. Nice view inside daily life habits in a hotel.
Good capture, Chris.
Have a nice weekend,

Very nice photo, Chris, the elegant interior of the room is well illustrated by the wide angle from the corner. I did the exact same thing in April and stayed at a ryokan in Kurashiki, near Okayama. As you write - a bit on the pricey side, but second to none in terms of hospitality as well as quality of food.

Ryokans are such a great experience! Very sharp shot with an UFO in this traditional setting: the TV!

Hi Chris,
this combination of furniture seems to be a mixture of traditional and modern. Because of the known japanish way using furniture the appearance of the TV-Station is a break in style.
Well captured.
Regards Ulf
PS: To all interested 12,000 yen are around 100 USD or 80 EURO. The hotel rates in Europe are more expensive.

Hi Chris,
Well composed, with a clean crisp look. The exposure level seems just right here, and you have conveyed the spaciousness of the toom interior here. Everything looks immaculate, simple and in its place. A rare glimpse into interior living in this country. Well captured.

Somehow this matches my idea of what a Japanese dining room should look like, so it's reassuring. Still interesting to see, as I'm unlikely to be visiting Japan any time soon. It's an interesting question to ponder what a dining room reveals about a culture or society...

hehehe... I remember my mother told me when we were still very small, my parents didn't have any money to buy furnitures, so they made japanese like house, no need chairs and beds, just table with low legs and matrass :))
very nice capture of the hotel room btw, look so neat and yet warm
have a nice sunday, Chris

Hi Chris,
A very sober room, you did very well this show us, I'll never come in Japan because I go never on a journey! Good picture Chris because of the window in background with all the verticale and horizontal lines!
Have a nice day,
John

Hi Chris,
This view speaks to me because it's the same layout as in the ryokan where I stayed in Kyoto, here a WS view.
We can see here the lines formed by the tatami as well as the graphic separation windows, if I return to Japan I'll go for ryokans whenever possible !
Have a nice day,

Hello Chris,
a typical interior of a Japanese dining room. Here you managed the light very well and the result is that superb capture. This is not like our dining rooms and according,to our 'west' data difficult to eat.Excellent the details and the colours.Well done.
