*200* - Lightmoves Photo

Photographers Note

For my 200th post, I decided against a photo showing clouds, polarized sky, castles or landscapes which are my favourite subjects. What I like about browsing the TE gallery is that it gives ideas about trying something different. Some will still say that this shot is oversaturated, as usual. However, I just cropped slightly and increased the contrast. On my screen, I like the colour as it is.

The exact spot is Tower 1 Yarras Edge (Docklands) which you can see on the right here . I was waiting for people going to or from the gym on the first floor. I didn't get a decent shot of people going up. This gym (+ spa, sauna, pool) is exclusive use for the residents of the 5 neighbouring apartment blocks.

The artwork, called Lightmoves, was created by Karen Casey. She moulded the land near the building site, photographed it then printed it on Duratan transparency panels which are backlit with Neon and changes intensity.

Pour ma 200ičme poste, jai décidé contre une image incluant des nuages, un ciel polarisé, un château ou un paysage qui sont mes sujets préférés. Ce que jaime lorsque je consulte la galerie de TE est quelle donne des idées pour essayer quelque chose de différente. Certains diront que cette photo est trop saturée, comme dhabitude. Cependant, jai juste croppé un peu et a augmenté les contrastes. Sur mon écran, jaime la couleur telle quelle.

Le lieu précis est Tower 1, ŕ Yarras Edge (Docklands). Vous pouvez voir ŕ droite ici . Jattendais pour des gens qui se rendait au ou venait du gym qui se trouve ŕ la premičre étage. Je n'ai pas réuissi avec les gens qui montent. Le gym (+piscine, jacuzzi et sauna) est ŕ lusage exclusive aux habitants des 5 blocs dappartement voisins.

Cet uvre dart, intitulé Lightmoves, fut crée par Karen Casey. Elle a modulé la terre prčs du chantier, la photographié puis la imprimé sur des panneaux transparents Duratan éclairé par derričre par des néons qui changent dintensité.

Great eye to be able to spot this! The overwhelming colour of the background immediately gets my attention, and makes the foreground elements of the stairs really stand out sharply. The blurred figure waling by is both interesting and carries a message, of how fast modern life is. Excellent work!

I've never been there, but I feel that you show the spirit of this place. The composition is perfect, and I really don't mind the saturation(I wouldn't even notice, but I've read your note after all). I suppose it required a lot of patience to get the right shot? Congratulations!

Great shot! It looks so ambiguous, so intriguing. One has to read the note to figure out the surroundings and the source of light. Strong contrast renders a peculiar look and I personally like it. Well done!

Sorprendente imagen, por el vivo color del rojo del fondo en primer lugar, parece casi un fuego encendido. La silueta es también magnífica. Toute mes félicitations pour tes 200 photos, tu sais combien j'aime ta gallerie, et celle ci me le prouve encore une fois. Autant tu es trčs douée pour faire de beaux paysages, de beaux panoramas mais également pour faire des clichés plus artistiques comme celle ci !!
Franchement tu devrais insister davantage dans cette voie la, essayer, tenter, oser, TE est fait pour ça également, en tout cas sache que quand cette direction lŕ je te suivrai :))

Félicatations pour ta 200e image sur TE! C'est trčs festif avec ce rouge orangé qui claque bien en toile de fond. En regardant la vignette, j'ai cru qu'il s'agissait de grandes flammes. L'escalier forme un belle diagonale et la silhouette du personnage ajoute la touche humaine. Certains puristes regretteront certainement la présence de la paroi sur la gauche qui ferme l'image, mais je pense qu'il était difficile de faire autrement.

Felicitations pour ta 200eme, je suis surpris de ne pas trouver d'image de Vufflens sous les nuages et avec la Nikki-touch (curseur saturation a droite...) !
Cette image est assez epatante je trouve, on dirait une vision du jugement dernier, ce fond ca donne tout de suite une chaleur torride et permet aux contrastes de s'exprimer, bien vu la silhouette humaine en mouveement aussi, ca me fait penser a certaines photo de Korkut (bostankorkulugu).
Sinon comme vision abstraite on peut dire que c'est le destin de l'entraineur australien a son retour au pays ;-)

This is an outstanding photo Nikki! The red patterns of the background, the tick blackness of the verticals and the stairs, the skinny aspect of the passerby. Amazing in all aspects. There's blood and life running through your frame. What a shot to celebrate your 200th! Really really good.

Congratulation for your 200th image on TE.
This is a fantastic image seen after a long time on TE.
It's a bit of a pity to be pincushion distortion slightly for such a good image, it's possible to correct it with LENS CORRECTION in Photoshop CS2 easily.
Consideration that describes on the note creater's name is also nice.

This is the first class picture. I would say, the best one of the month. You have all in one shot: human presence, graphic, colors, and all moody feelings there. A very sharp image too.

imperdonable! se me pasó por alto tu 200Ş foto en TE. Felicidades amiga, y espero que sigas con 200 más, y 200 más, y....
Excelente grafismo y buen impacto cromático lo que define tu foto, me gusta su sencillez y sus fuerza, el dinamismo de la silueta borrosa que baja las escaleras, y por supuesto, su impresionante color.
El edificio donde has tomado la foto es una bella obra de arquitectura, y la foto que has enlazado también me gusta mucho.

The way you took profit of the guy's and stairs shadows against the texturized wall id great and creates this fantastic compo.

Hey Nikki,

This is one I've admired for a while, but never got around to critique. It looks great, the strange colours and patterns look like something one would expect in a vouge nightclub. The motion is what really sets this one off, giving the scene a sense of life and purpose. Docklands is a part of Melbourne that gets both good and bad comments, but I think that over time it will become a really well developed and entertaining area. The quirky pulic art in this precinct is pretty good.
