Photographers Note

The seaside town Gaeta lies on an appendix if the mountain range Monti Aurunci. Gaeta is an very old town, a Marine Republic and last bastion of the Bourbon monarchy. It was a highly important port and resort town in the Roman period and reached the height of its splendour in the Middle Ages.

On a promontory almost completely surrounded by the sea, there is the "Urban Park of Monte Orlando", dated to 1986. The nearby surrounding sea is "Oasi blu" and is managed by the WWF for scientific and educational purposes. The rest of the town stretches through typical medieval lanes and streets, the Anjevin-aragonese castle, Roman monuments, historical churches and many wonderful beaches.

This photo is taken while walking up towards Monte Orlando. The Castle, which was under repair, is seen on the right and the cathedral bell tower in the middle.

PP: The original was quite hazy, so I tried to make the scenery more clear by increasing the local contrast with unsharp mask, a method which I heard a couple of days ago from wishlist. Thanks Igor! Other things were straightening the horizon and cropping, adjusting highlights and sharpening.

Gaeta is a beautiful city, although not well conserved. From there the wiew is very nice and it gives a classic image of a mediterranean city. The double castle makes the urban landscape more interesting, the belltower is wonderful, a masterpiece of medieval architecture in South-Italy. The colours are good and natural, like ever by you. bellissima, un bello scorcio di gaeta molto ben ripreso, peccato per le gru ma ci ha pensato baddori a toglierle, io ho fatto un ws dovw ho dato un po' di calore alla foto. dimmi se ti piace.

belle photo de cette colinne ou se juche ce superbe chateau en refection, celle ville magnifique,ce petit port et cette vue sur l' immensité de l' eau qui rejoint le ciel.

This must be a very beautiful town, and I guess there are many fine restaurants as well here. Very fine composition and all those cranes indicate a lot of activities!
