Photographers Note
as you can tell from the title, I am pretty low on the inspiration curve. add to that total lack of time to go hunting for new photos, and you can imagine I'm pretty much scraping the bottom of the barrel looking for something to post. finally I found this early morning (around 7:30) shot that I had initially dismissed, but then came to like despite the cyan sky, or may be precisely because of it. so no colour adjustments, the cyan sky stays as it is, I like the contrast with the pale lime green and yellow light. and not much of a story here, I simply enjoyed the patterns of long shadows and golden colours.
Kristaps has this photo from even earlier the same morning.

Dear Kristine,
I feel with you, low on inspiration, maybe it's the time of the season, who knows. It's grey and dull weather here, very depressing. Seems you are very busy with work, maybe that's also a good excuse of not getting out in shooting new material. Is Kristaps already out on the road? He mailed me for some advice, hope his plans can go on.
Your picture...ha, you had some sunlight, lucky you. That sunlight is dark and low, but it brightens up the whole image and although the tree is nice, it are those clouds what make a great mood and impression me...looks just great..!!!
Take care....and don't work too much ;-)

Hello Kristine
You've caught a marvelous light here. The play of shadows is so wonderful.
All is perfectly handled to bring a quiet atmosphere out : the fine light, the thin mist, the warm colors... Lucky you to admire a so lovely landscape ;o)
Excellent work.

Hi, Kristine.
Colors and shadowplay are awesome, on top of a highly moody view. Well seen and VERY well presented.
I guess we are all pretty low on inspiration right now, I guess it's the time of the year... Personally speaking : I'll be looking at the bright(er) side of life starting from January 1st... It's sunny today over here, but it's been grey and dull for the past two weeks in a row...
Have a great day, take care.
Hugs,
Fulvio.

hey there, morning fresh and neat all over. if you ask me, hampshire gazette should buy this one to promote fall time tourism to mt. holyoke range. cyan sky? if i remember correctly, it actually WAS cyan at that time of the day. :))

Hi, Kristine. The contrast between the well lit foreground and the hills in the background draws the attention to the two parts of the picture. There are good hades of green giving a good depth to the image, just as the tree in the foreground does. It is well placed in the composition and leaves the view open onto the hills. The long shadows tell us the sun is very low. A good morning atmosphere shot.
Have a nice day,
Philippe

:)))))) look who is here :)))))
I can tell you are a perfectionist. And I bet you have loads of excellent photos that stay in your bottom drawer because after 14 days you do not like them anymore. But you know what...you souldn't be so hard on your self. Your photos are always a treat, with cyan or not. And it is absolutely nothing wrong posting something because you just simply like it without any additional explanation, hidden meaning, etc. Beauty is simple...why making it complicated? It is a wonderful photo. Full stop.
My best to you both and try to work a little less,
Jeri

Hi Kristine,
I like the long shadows as well, but I also like the mist lying at the edge of the field and behind the rise. Is there a river there?
Gray skies and an absent photo buddy sounds like a bummer.

Kristine,
Love the play of the shadow here, and that wondeful morning light and misty atmospher that I hardly get up early enough for, and Kristaps get up even earlier? I try when travelling. Love the very simple landscape with this beautiful as your anchor point to draw our attention to and then the rest of the very refreshing morning atmosphere in this beautiful and natural surrounding.
Thanks Kristine.

Hi, Kristine -
Not every photo has to tell a story, y'know; beauty can be appreciated for its own sake. And this is a lovely photo, sets a nice morning mood, and the long shadows do tell a bit of a story right there (kind of like I just posted, whose long shadows you liked, from the opposite end of the day).
And the cyan sky is nice, all right, but what appeals to me are the shadows and the golden colors on the tree and the lawn. The mist ain't bad either.
Best,
Dan

Hello Kristine,
I have enjoyed looking at your gallery.
I, too, have had photographs that I dismissed but then, on reflection found quite pleasing. I think our mood, or perhaps style, changes.
I like this very much. The long shadows are really eye-catching and grab the attention straight away.
There are lovely horizontal layers of colour which make an interesting b/g for the focal tree.
The hint of ground mist and the low clouds add an unusual touch.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Kristine,
I don't understand the discouraged mood of your note, because I find the photo beautiful and much achieved. You mentioned already the contrast of colours, but I like also the play of light and shadow, the shapes of the shadows on the FG, the picturesque silhouette of the tree and the low shadows glowing with the early morning sunlight. The sky looks very natural to me and I guess that any try to put it more blue and less green/yellow could render the image strange.
Regards, José.

Hi Kristine,
Wonderful job of handling this tricky light.
The foreground is bathed in warm tranquil light that brings wonderful shadows and golden tones that contrast nicely with the green.
The mist over the distant Berkshire is very soothing and peaceful.

Hello Kristine,
Ah, a wonderful play on words, "Cheyenne Sky," the name of an old western perhaps. But the image is very good, and many of your TE friends agree enthusiastically. I just discovered the gallery of a new and photographically talented Latvian,Peteris Lehta (linbs), and pointed out the photos that you and Kistaps have been posting.
Warm regards and have a good weekend,

Hi Kristine,
I think we are in the same way...the only difference is that I don't have nothing to choose from. I don't know why you don't like this one. The essence of the photo is great. A calm scenary, soft lighting, the tree well placed in the frame, the shadows on the field...I like it, congrats! Take a look at the ws. I've worked in a b&w version for you.

Carlos

Hello Kristine! Tranquil picture, so much fall with the pale light and yet it has its own beauty that I like so much and we go more inside and take some candles out in the evening adding a cozy atmosphere to our living rooms. Very special the shadows on the grass adding its own patterns, bringing a special mood to this photo, and the little bit of fog that is left, another smooth element of your early morning. Inspiration curve, mh, I guess you have that only every so often, it is just there sometimes but it can go away as fast as it came. For me it has nothing to do with the Season but maybe the people around me sometimes and the mood they have or I have, work etc. Oh well, it is Sunday, maybe NY offers you a special treat today, a special sky, a strange cloud :)))) Enjoy ... Barbara.

Hello Kristine:
It is beautiful scenery, with nice symmetry horizontal. The tree is undoubtedly the main component of the scene, a beautiful natural element, that makes a good combination with the warm tones and soft.
The sky, in relation to the beams that the title is amazing, with a soft single. I like the atmosphere of calm that radiates this place.

Bonsoir Kristine
This photo goes immediately in my favorite.
This squaring which the shade creates on the ground is extraordinary.
I like the fine golden line of corn, the bluish green universe of the hills where the clouds come to play and this so delicate sky.
I like ALL! I want right to sit me and stay to contemplate!
Bravo!

Nice view, full of peace. The light is nice and enhances these lovely automnal colours.
The lines made by the shadow on the field create a good effect.
The composition is simple but very efficient.

Beautiful morning light here! Especially the patterns of long shadows and golden colours on the lawn are wonderful though the clouds travelling to somewhere on the middle distance are also lovely. The sky looks very natural to me, it's very attractive as it is.

Hello Kristine
Cyan sky notwithstanding, it's the play of shadows & the lit up parts in the FG which steals the show here. The mood created is fine & contrasts with the haze & the paleness in the BG. The tree is also a very important part of the compo., the way you kept it in the frame. Well done!

The simplicity of this picture is gorgeous. I like the early morning fog clouds clinging in the hills and the fog still rising from the earth contrasting with the very clear foreground. The long shadows and shades of green grass are striking. It's beautiful!

Because it's pale, the cyan sky doesn't look overly cyan. It's exactly the right colour for the atmosphere with the mist. I particularly like how the low sun has created the long shadows as well as warming up the scene.
We had frost sun and mist this morning so we went out to see what we could find.
