Photographers Note

is the road between Huehuetenango, Nebaj and Coban.
Although the main connection between the 4th and 5th city of the country, the surface is unpaved.
Winding up and off the Chuchumatanes between the 800 and the 2200 meter the effort is heavy but the views rewarding.

Not like riding around flat Amsterdam eh!!
Good capture showing the local environment. Hard to gauge the steepness of the hill but it looks like an effort. Looks more like a road one would expect to see a Rally car flying past.

Het moet een droom zijn om daar te kunnen fietsen, natuurlijk wanneer we hier pech krijgen, zal men van goede huize moeten komen om alles te herstellen
Ik vind het zeer mooi, een dagboek bij houden om later dit eens te bundelen, zou ook wel mooi zijn.

Strange landscape with the yellow rock. The cyclist, although small in the frame, really makes the image. The sweep of the road works well in the composition.

The photo captures well the steepness of the incline, the cyclist looks quite tiny in the broad sweeping curve of the road.
The photo gives me great admiration for your stamina. My biggest bicyle trip was riding to Hana, Maui, only about 90 km each way. I also really like your new profile photo.

wow, that's an agressive environment, Gerrit. I would love to try this kind of trip one day, but I'm sure I would suffer a lot as well. Superb reportage capture of your kind of holidays ;-) It wouldn't work so well without your collegue.

this dry landscape seems to be very hot,it must be diificult ho bike here!I like the strong light around the cyclist and the contrast with the shadow,like if it was a light of a projector showing the man!superb!

Je veux bien croire que la récompense est au sommet, mais quel effort pour y arriver. De plus, la peur de crevaison d'un pneumatique m'inciterait ŕ prendre un camion de pneumatiques ou de chambres ŕ air vu l'état général de la route ! ;o)
L'ambiance générale est parfaitement restituée ŕ travers cette composition (nous sentons presque la chaleur nous envahir) !!!

It is not a beautiful view but still a fine documentary!
The dirt road that looks like mostly dry clay probably is quite different during rainy season...
