Photographers Note
An avant-garde work by the architect Álvaro Varela, inaugurated on 1st September, 2001. It stands out for its unique seagull shape, especially for the curious catwalk which gives it a unique character, increased by its spectacular night lighting.
Its most important characteristic is its length (275 m), as well as its width (23 m), and the external trussing and bracing systems. It has four lanes, one in each direction, as well as pavements reserved for pedestrians.
The Ponte Millenium has helped to alleviate traffic on the Ponte Nova and to pedestrianise the Ponte Vella.
