Photographers Note
This is the sulfurus lake in the center of one of the two explosion craters on Poas, about 1 hour drive from San Jose. It is best to come in the early morning, when there isnt much sulfurous damp and you can see the very special blue shade in the crater.
Poas has erupted at least 39 times since 1828 and is in state of nearly continuous mild activity. Io, Jupiter's moon, also has sulfur volcanoes. So this is truly out of this world experience :)

Hallo Anyska!
You show us a most interesting and very impressive picture here. These colours and the different layers of stone, especially on the left side, are amazing. This must be a very special place. Thank you for your effort to climb up and for showing this one!
Greetings from Germany - and all the best for 2008!

An interesting place indeed. I'll bet it smelled like rotten eggs. Nicely composed.

Hello Anyska,
This is a good view of the crater. The gases coming out from the pool show us the actual activity going on in this volcano. Interesting landscape and good details on the image. I grew up close(relatively speaking) to this volcano but never got a chance to see it this close. Thanks and Happy New Year :-)

Hi Anyska,
The sulphur lake looks amazing! I have seen similar ones in Yellowstone, they look fantastic. I like your composition and POV. The aerial look does give a very good impact.
Well done,
Shaeri
