Yes, I think the key is to remove noise from where it's most apparent and stay away from visible lines. Best tool in PS I've found is smart blur which leaves sharp details untouched.
And another very useful tool is history brush. Basically make only a rough selection of the area which you want to edit. Do the noise removal. And use history brush to undo changes where noise removal lost details.
