Buddhist monks of the Theravada tradition are forbidden to eat ten kinds of meat.... Human, Dog, Horse, Elephant, Snake, Bear, Tiger, Leopard (two kinds), Hyena... and any meat suspected to have been killed specifically for them. Dogs are man's companion and friend and although not vegetarian I would avoid them even if I were not a monk. We believe the karma from killing any sentient being is negative. Good photo though!

It is very difficult to show nudity nowadays in an honest way without dragging sex into it. This shot shows very well the closeness to nature of these people in a beautiful way. Their daily lives, hard to us but quite bearable and normal to them.

The Shan people do the same pinching of the skin, and on the bridge of the nose to relieve headache. Some hill peoples use coins to rub the neck for a similar effect. great shot.

Several hill peoples wear leg protectors, although I'm not sure against what, snakes or undergrowth.

Pity there was not a little more fill light in the shadows on her face. I do love the Thanaka powder they use to decorate their faces with.

Beautiful shot...the shiny wet reflections are good in themselves but the extra colour of the monks and his feet make it great.
