Great tyro 2016-01-12 4:31

Ciao cara Lisa,

Ah, I see that our old pal St Kentigern (aka St. Mungo) has had an influence here too even although the fella's been dead now for over 1300 years and since long before the pestilence of the white man invaded your shores. I was looking at this website and saw:

"Lake Mungo is named after the Mungo sheep station which was created in the 1920s when the land in the area was subdivided for soldier settlement. The property, owned by the Cameron Brothers, was named after a picture of St Mungo they had seen at St Mungo's Church in Scotland. St Mungo is the patron saint of Glasgow."

But perhaps you already knew that.

This is a fabulous photograph taken in warm low angled light of either morning or evening which so perfectly shows the arid and barren nature of this inhospitable terrain but also that terrain's stunning natural beauty. And the wide expanse and remoteness are perfectly depicted in this fine image.

Gorgeous light and fine rich colours, perfect exposure and stunning details and sharpness.

Beautiful!

Kind Regards,

John.

Smile To tyro: Curious

Caro Giovanni

You're a curious wee Scot, aren't you? How impressive that you did some further research on this strange, wild place. Strange that you mention Mungo Station. We visited the old ruins and the old shearing sheds. You'd have loved it. Did I tell you my Nan's mob were Camerons? There were 23 kids and they scattered to all corners of Australia after the Clearances in Argyll. I've always been told that we were distantly related to the Camerons of Mungo, but have never seen proof. Makes me feel like doing a land rights claim and giving the land back to the true owners

Thanks again and I hope you're keeping out of trouble. How was the Margaret River Pluge?

Lisa
