Default useful notes

I wonder how much thought people give to the marking of notes as 'useful'.
I have just read a note where the photographer apologised for not writing a note because she was too tired. Seven people marked this non note and useful (obviously without reading it). So, what value does the marking of a note as 'useful' really have?

hello Kevin

I notice some very good photographers have posted a lot of photos without notes. That is such a pity, granted that I agree 'a handful' of photos may not need notes although it will be useful to new members. regards, bill

Never mind the notes - more than a few people don't look at the photos either!!!! You think I'm joking - I'm not joking!

I agree with you. Sometime some people copy directly from Wikipedia with a really long infomation. And also I think that if a photo is really a mystery one, then people tend to seek for more information of why he/she takes the photo. Sometime if it is easy to firgure it out, then they just pass by. What do you think?

I agree with Colin - it's obvious many members have 'fans' who don't really look at the photos in their haste to post their usual gushing one-line critiques. Checking 'useful' for something completely useless is just the icing on the cake.

I prefer short but useful note, telling what was the photographer thinking about the picture himself/herself and what he/she did for trying to get it. Not the longer the better. BTW, some useful votes might be because of wrong clicks:)
