Hi Andrew,
Wow! Frozen custard? I've never heard of that stuff but it actually sounds quite delicious, especially if it's real custard, made with eggs and cream and not your horrid powdered stuff you mix with water.
I like this picture a lot and you have done very well to take this in ambient light at ISO 100. I see you've used a shutter speed of just 1/50 second, so you must have a steady hand too. And with your lens almost wide open at f/2.8. Good on you!
And, my favourite thing, of course, is the lighting which is just superb on the faces of the customers queueing up waiting for their treats - the light from the shop window lights up them and their clothing perfectly and yet we can still see lots of detail within the café too.
Perfect exposure, good composition, lovely vibrant colours and super sharpness and detail.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

The more I take photos, the more I hate using the flash - it washes out and, yes, flattens every scene. The situations where I'll use it are few and far between. And yes, the hammer and the beer are traditional crabbing tools, especially in the Chesapeake region - my uncle is an old Chesapeake guy, and he brought us up right, even though I no longer live in the area.
