Hi Rosalie. Indeed very impressionestic picture but I like the artistic escapades you make here. Nice work! Say, isn't that dude walking on the tracks?

Default To FORJP001: Bonjour, Jean-Pierre

You cannot figur out out why it is a difficult morning ! Suppose you have gone to bed at 10 or 10.20 pm. At 3.30 am, someone wakes you up from your bunk. You dress up, go up on the deck and this is the night. Get a quick cup of coffe, then mustering and despatching the jobs. Four hours to go, perhaps you will do something : one hour at the wheel (which is one hour of concentration) ; one hour as look out (which is watching all around again for one hour, ussually with nothing to look at) ; fire watch (just go around the ship and check if eveything goes right). Or just being iddle, trying not to sleep. Sometimes, there will be sails manoeuvres, more difficult than in day time since there a less pepole availble. And sometimes too (but not often on "Belem"), you will be asked to go aloft to do something and that you could not imagine you would do it : climbing in the rigging at night...
At about 5.30, the sun will begin to rise and now there are only 2 and a half hour to go. It is always cold in these mornings.... You just think it would be better in a better and that you have been crazy to go sailing...

Just to give you some ideas why it can be a hard morning during the third night watch...

Bien cordialement,

Emmanuel
