Hello Chris,
This is a remarkable wall, with its inset statues and mass of hieroglyphs. Your photograph has a very 3D effect with the difference in the shadows and sunlit areas.
Did you have to wait for someone to emerge from the doorway? The figure is important for scale.
When people discovered these remarkable ruins, at first, they would have no understanding that the patterns were actually writing, explaining about the queen!

I didn't have to wait long as all 6 of the tour buses from Aswan went in a caravan convoy with armed Egyptian guards in the front and rear in case any Sudanese got any ideas about rich, unprotected tourists. Sudanese often make raids into neighbouring Kenya just south of Sudan.
