Great Royaldevon 2021-05-10 8:27

Hello Jean,

'Pargeting', I must strive to remember that word because it holds so much meaning about a long neglected skill.
I could recognise that the external figures were battling but didn't recognise a giant!
This is a quite different style of decoration to the ones shown in your w/s, which are very decorative patterns rather than recording a story.
Both styles are extremely interesting and sharply photographed for our interest.

The view through to the back street reveals houses constructed of wood. Again, something quite unusual in England.

My warm regards,
Bev :-)
I have just noticed a single leg, beneath the roof. I wonder who that belonged to!

Default To Royaldevon: A single leg

Hi Beverley, yes, it wasn't until I was editing the picture that I noticed the single leg, sorry I can't help, I haven't got any other pictures to help me out.

I guess that if you look at the two figures, the one on the right must be the giant, as he is carrying a weapon, and the other figure carries something like a shield.

I remember knowing a family named Pargeter when I was teaching. I had no idea then that it was an occupation.

Kind regards,
Jean.
