I just bought a Canon Digital Rebel XT 8MP Digital SLR Camera it came with a EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 Lens. What other lens should I have, This is my first SLR and have been using a point and shoot for 6 years.

Hi Jason,
for a long time I, too, used a point-and-shoot small pocket Canon Ixus... until I realized that it's time to change ![]() 18-55 is not the best but better than nothing! ![]() It depends on what you need the camera for.. in any case, I'd advise to get a lens with Image Stabilizer. It's more expensive but it helps a lot. as far as I know, these two are among the most popular ones: 50mm (for example, http://www.the-digital-picture.com/R...ns-Review.aspx) and 18-200mm (a universal one - for those who do not want to bother about changing the lenses every minute ![]() http://www.the-digital-picture.com/R...ns-Review.aspx PS. on TE there are more professional photographers than I am (I am just an amateur), so I hope you'll hear more opinions ![]() |
