The stone has warm coloursand you got a got sharpness of the details. The shadows ofthe counterpillars (don't know the English term : "arc boutants" in French) make an orginal vue;

All the best,

Default To emjleclercq: Flying buttresses

Hello Emmanuel,
Thank you for your kind words. The Cologne Cathedral is a fantastic building, and hard to see all at once since it is so large, so I photographic it "in pieces", which gives more detail, I think.

"Arc boutants" are flying buttresses in English. I think the French term is more descriptive than the English one, but whatever they are named, they keep the building from falling down.

Best regards,
Lois

Thanks for the English name, Lois. Thes flying buttresses are really an important characterictic of Gothic architecture and sometimes you can maanged to get nice shots using them.

All the best,

Emmanuel
