Great bmukherjee 2010-09-14 19:31

Hi Kevin,

I'm a big fan of star trail pictures (I take a lot of them in the himalayas), and I think this is by far the best urban star trail exposure I have seen. The exposure is ideal, and the composition excellent. I'm also impressed with your results with the camera: I can't think of a method of using a compact camera to shoot star trails. Your velcro method must have been quite innovative...

great job,

Default To bmukherjee: Thanks

Thanks for the compliments. It must be awesome to take star trail pictures in the Himalayas. I'm sure you can see so much more stars plus you can put the mountains in the foreground.

Yes, indeed you're right - the number of stars is so great, star trail photos actually look better in slight moonlight... And of course - the mountains are the best part. Unfortunately, as you probably know, startrail photography is very power-intensive, so you can probably take one or two of those while hiking in the middle of nowhere.
