Great m 2012-01-05 11:14

Hi Corrado,

Amazing place and a beautiful lake! But for your note I would never have guessed it's late May in Italy:))
Like the texture of the water and the mountains, great view. Thanks and best wishes in 2012.

Smile To marina7: Strange landscape in late may...

Hello Marina, I'm glad you like the photo.
I understand that it may seem strange a landscape with snow in late May in Italy. In fact a lot of people associate (usually rightly) Italy in warm weather, sun, sea, etc., but here we are in the northern part of the country and the lake is located at an altitude of over 2000m, while the Marmolada (the mountain that reflects in the lake) is more than 3300m and is home of the largest glacier in the Dolomites. During spring, at this altitude, it is common to meet winter snow not yet melted.
Sometimes, during storms, a snowfall can occur even in July and August.

Ciao, best regards and... happy 2012

Corrado
