Controlled fires keep the landscape of Pendjari National Park open.
The smoke attracts birds (who hope to find grilled insects) like the beautiful bright colored Roller you can just see fly over here.

Hello Gerrit - Lovely soft light and colours in this African landscape give it an almost painterly feel. Very nice composition with the road curving round towards the horizon and the smoke. Best regards Rosmary

Hello Gerrit,
I saw a lot of bush fires in West Africa. I wasn't sure they were always controlled, but maybe they were.
This is anyway a nice composition with the slightly curving road on one side with a few trees beside it. The tree to the right looks almost abnormally green and fresh surrounded by that blackened ground. The smoke spreads nicely across the field, blending with the clouds.

Boa noite Gerrit

In my region in the Summer we can see a lot of fire in the forest. A dry vegetation contributes to these fires.
Very good register.

ces photos de savane nous réchauffent par cet hiver froid. Une région qui ne connait pas le frois mais bien les chaleurs excessives. Des couleurs chaudes, feu et paille. Document interessant sur ces incendies controlés.

ça fume, superbe vue et effet de cette brousse dnas une ambiance comme de la brume, mais tout en clair,m on voit bien les herbes brűlées, la route ŕ gauche, fantastique.

Hello Gerrit,
A well composed shot making good use of the track on the left to draw the viewer into the scene and create a feeling of depth. The smoky atmosphere is nicely evoked resulting in soft natural colours. I like the overall tonal palette.
