Photographer's Note

This is a "new oldie", a digital photo from early 2006. I spent a couple of weeks that winter on the Cape Verde islands, a former Portuguese colony and now an independent republic in the Atlantic ocean, outside the coast of West Africa. Geologically the islands are - I believe - an extension of the Canary Isands.

On the northwestern island of Santo Antão I hired a taxi for the day to go from Porto Novo on the eastern side, across the island to the west coast. Now and then I asked the driver to stop so I could get out to take photos. When we reached this place, at the highest point of the island, I didn't have to ask. The driver just stopped and told me that "tourists usually take photos here".

Two views in other directions will be added as workshops.
