Sal and its saline, a photo from Sal, Barlavento

Photographer's Note

Sal is the translation of "salt" in Portuguese ... obviously, there are saline on the island as here in Pedro de Luma. An original situation, salt is harvested at the bottom of a crater!
In the past, salt was transported to the port by a cable car, with the wooden poles remaining.
And in its very salty waters you can swim ... and float, I testify!

Interesting view of these salt pans, always attractive places. Are the people there bathing or working? Such bath in salty water, like in Dead Sea, is funny experience. Beautiful picture.

A great view of these salt lakes, which are surrounded by so many warm and appealing colours. The barren hills make a great landscape in the background. There seem to be some people taking a bath in the lake as well, which is a great detail.

Bonjour Jean,
A well taken photo from a high POV, the barren land around may indicate hot weather condition that enhances the "growing" salt on those pans.
Good idea to include the working complex with yellow tractor and green truck, people on the water-edge that scale the whole in fine manner.

brilliant reportage from Sal. Yes a name like this offers a lot of possibilities for funny titles.
Nice construction in the foreground and the flat salt fields in the distance. I have seen salt fields on la Palma two years ago. I regret I didn't take a proper tour of it.
