Cape Verdean sunset, a photo from Boa Vista, Barlavento

Photographer's Note

I must be getting old, tired of life or simply lazy, because while on Cape Verde, even if my room was few minutes walk from the beach, I attempted to watch a sunset only once. When standing on the Praia de Lacacao, the sun was not disappearing in the ocean but instead somewhere between the resort buildings. There are two reasons I shared this photo. Firstly, I really like the orange colour of the sky. Secondly, throughout the whole island there is not much vegetation. Palm trees, which often decorate beaches in southern countries, were quite rare. Therefore, the presence of the palm trees in the hotel grounds allowed me to use their silhouettes as a framing for the setting sun.

coconut palm trees like rain and in these desertic beaches their leaves are ever damaged by the dry air and wind. here in my town they are damaged by the ice or caterpillars sometimes. you got a nice and different sunset view using this gap.

Hello Mariusz, the orange glow in the sky gives us a warm feeling. There is just enough light to identify the other features in the scene.
You made good use of the vegetation that nicely frames the picture.

Somehow this reminds of my visit to Sal. Similarly the resort there was between beach and desert. Warm glow looks good and this angle gives a good idea of the place where you stayed.

The orange colour of the sky is indeed special and it is beautifully reflected on the tiles.
Little vegetation on the island, but fortunately the resorts have planted enough palms.
Imagine a holiday in a warm country without palm trees ...
