Woman in blue, a photo from Aswan, Inland

Photographer's Note

I am ınterrupting again my China series, and posting a picture taken at EDFU, near the great Temple of Horus near the NILE river. We are in 1997, and that time ( Probably today too ) they were taking visitors to the temple by horse carriages after disembarking at the pier. After the visit we were asked to walk back. And that was a road full of colors and activity. This is where I found this yellow house, with a painting of Mecca, a sign that it's owner had been to the Haj. But taking a picture of the painting itself would be a mere reproduction so I decided to wait until people passed. There was a market nearby and I didn't have to wait long. I was able to catch at least three decent images in 15 minutes.

superb colors. What a wall! What yellow and blue! The artwork is fantastic and the mysterious figure fits so beautifully into this environment.

Very nice pic'. I like the idea and the overall composition, so as the excellent details on the wall. But I am really disturb by the fact that the woman is that much out of focus. In this case I'd rather see tha whole pic sharp. Only my opinion ;o)

Striking colors, Izzet, and a good placement of the woman in front of the richly textured and painted wall. Ideally the woman would be a bit sharper, but the overall ensemble and arrangement of details still makes for a beautiful photo. Greetings from Austria.

Hi Izzet,
I must admit that patience isn't my greatest virtues and so have missed opportunities. The image of the blue shawled woman against the painted and textured wall ...and in that particular position was worth the waiting. Her inclusion adds balance and a depth of extra meaning to the whole.

Bonjour, Izzet. Ce qui me plaît avant tout dans cette imatge, c'est l'harmonie de couleurs entre le voile de la dame, les inscriptions en haut ŕ droite et les coupoles. Le dessin et la dame, par ailleurs trčs bien placée dans l'image, ressortent trčs bien sur le mur jaune. Une composition simple, mais efficace. Comme d'autres l'ont déjŕ signalé, j'aurais cependant aimé un peu plus de netteté au niveau du pesonnage.

bu fotograf cok etkileyici olmus. Kadin o kadar cok sey ifade ediyor ki. Ilk dikkati ceken resmin fotografa dönüştüğü noktada kadın var. Ayni zamanda inancın günlük hayata yansıması da yine kadın olmuş. Her zamanki gibi kadın bütünü bozmakla hayatı tamamlamak arasında katalizör görevini hakkıyla yerine getirmiş. Tebrikler.

What a fantastic vision! Just stunning capture. Light on the graffiti cannot be better, the color is just extraordinary. The slightly blurred person in blue adds that touch of ambiguity that succeeds really well in contrast to the pin sharp background.

J'aime beaucoup cette photo. D'abord pour ce motif paint sur le mur qui doit je suppose etre une grande source de fierte pour le proprietaire de la maison, et le motif combine au cote un peu mysterieux de la femme voilee ca me transporte tout de suite dans l'univers des 1001 nuits, enfin les couleurs dominantes jaunes et bleue sont agreables et tres complementaires, une reussite !

Hi Izzet. The color contrast is great and the colors of the cloths of the lady are a perfect match to the blue on the wall. Perfect crop and perfect sharpness of the wall. The woman is a bit out of focus, but the picture still great. Regards, Yvonne

Good decision... and the luck factor which makes good photos too. That incredible she was in blue, her head now looks like the fifth dome going out from the mosque drawing.

Tres reussi celle-ci, Izet - Luko a bien remarque comment la femme forme "un dome de plus". J'aime aussi l'aspect textural de cette image, comme quoi le tout form une espece de murale, une oeuvre entiere sur la pelerinage lointain du Haj...

Hi,
This is very good photography. The wall painting and their colors are simply great. What makes this picture stunning is the woman looking at them - she might get more sharpness, but this really doesn't matter here.
